APPRENTICE CONSTRUCTION PLANT OPERATOR

About the Role

Based at our site in Coventry City Centre for the first 12-months you will receive on-the-job training by our experienced site team (mentors) in addition to structured training from our appointed apprenticeship provider. At Armac, ensuring the safety and well-being of apprentices is a top priority. We will provide you with a safe, controlled, and structured environment for you to develop your skills whilst undertaking your apprenticeship. You will be provided with a thorough induction process, regular briefings and Toolbox talks to ensure you are familiar with safety protocols and site rules. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided.

Skills You will Learn

  • Operate several construction machines (known as plant) that is used onsite in the construction and demolition sector.

  • Conduct pre-use safety checks that keeping machines running properly.

  • Change a variety of machine attachments.

Once trained and competent operating a core range of plant you will be able to work across a number of projects and have the opportunity to upgrade to more specialist plant such as graders, dozers, and demolition plant. There is also opportunity for you to become a lead operator, supervisor, or plant manager, should you wish to explore these options.

  • Ability to work under the guidance of others and listen to and understand instructions.

  • Keen to learn health and safety regulations, given the potential risks associated with demolition work.

  • Positive work ethic - able to maintain a positive outlook and collaborate with others.

  • Able to problem solve, make suggestions and good choices.

  • Self-motivated, showing initiative when completing tasks.

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Able to interact and deal with a range of different people in different situations.

  • Turning up for work everyday with an enthusiastic approach.

  • Communication – sharing information and listening to other people.

  • Collaborating with other people to achieve common goals.

  • Hour of Work: 37.5 per week

  • Apprenticeship Level: 2

  • Duration: 18 months

  • Salary: In-line with national minimum wage
