HEAVY PLANT FITTER
About the Role
As a Heavy Plant Fitter, you will be overseeing regular maintenance activities, diagnosing and addressing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and executing repairs on a diverse range of heavy plant equipment such as 100t – 20t tracked excavators, mobile crushing plants, hydraulic attachments, dumptrucks, loading shovels, telehandlers, generators, and screeners etc.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will utilise your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Welding and electrical experience will enhance your ability to handle complex machinery. In addition, your relevant experience with a range of plant equipment will be essential in executing tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
Maintain, service and repair heavy plant machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety, both on site and within our purpose-built workshop
Conduct regular inspections and perform necessary repairs on equipment
Assemble and fabricate components as needed, adhering to schematics and safety standards
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Must have a full UK driving licence (HGV as an advantage but not essential)
Be able to service, diagnose and repair various machinery including excavators, dumptrucks, telehandlers, etc
Proven experience in a similar role as a Plant Fitter, Mobile Plant Engineer, Service Engineer, Heavy Plant Mechanic, or similar.
Strong troubleshooting skills to Diagnose and resolve issues efficiently and carry out repairs
Must have the ability to work on site unaided when required
Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
A proactive, safety-conscious attitude and excellent fault-finding skills.
